Who It’s For: Those who are inclined to philosophically understand the structure and implications of knowledge production in Western society.
Why We Love It: This article authoritatively outlines the ontological and epistemological underpinnings of Western/Eurocentric thought, and correspondingly the exclusion of alternative modes of thinking (e.g., non-Western and female scholars). While it’s a dense read, this is an excellent resource for those wanting to critically engage with the historical and philosophical context for CER, which attempts to attenuate or even deconstruct hegemonic knowledge production practices within academic institutions.
