Description: Social scientists use various techniques to elicit honest answers to sensitive questions in surveys. The list experiment is a popular option that reduces sensitivity biases but sacrifices statistical precision. This talk discusses double list experiments as an alternative research design that overcomes this challenge and provides guidelines for their implementation.
Bio: Gustavo Diaz is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Political Science at McMaster. His research develops standards to navigate research design tradeoffs in the social sciences, with special interest on questions relating to the challenges to democracy and representation in the Global South.
