Description: In this talk, Paul Bakker, Credentialed Evaluator, will provide an introduction to the practice of impact evaluation. Topics will include: what is evaluation, how it differs from other types of research, types of evaluation, how to describe programs and interventions using logic models and theories of change, design options for measuring social impact, threats to validity, and ensuring equity and cultural responsiveness. Join us for this talk if you want to learn more about conducting research in applied settings and how to help organizations measure and improve their social impact.
Bio: For over a decade, Paul Bakker has led his evaluation consultancy, Social Impact Squared, in completing over 75 research and evaluation projects. Paul’s practice focuses on rigorous impact measurement, developmental evaluation, and evaluating efforts to build sustainable livelihoods. Paul uses a principles-focused, asset-oriented, and equitable approach to evaluating social programs. Paul works with clients and their communities to bring their expertise and experience to the foreground, while collaborating to understand, measure, communicate, and improve their social impact.
