Description: This session will discuss the impacts – both positive and negative – of generative artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing. The capacity of generative AI tools like ChatGPT to produce human-like text has been abused by some authors, but has leveled the playing field for others. This presentation will explore the diversity of ways that AI tools have been used by authors/researchers, how they may be utilized ethically to support our work, and consideration for those involved in peer reviewing or editing scholarly manuscripts. This presentation is designed to appeal to researchers from all disciplinary backgrounds and career stages.
