Spark Talk: We All Make Mistakes: Stories of Research Gone Wrong by Akacia Propst and Brianne Morgan (Nov 18, 2022)
Description: Co-founders of the science communication project and science blog “The Null Hypothesis”— our project centers around demystifying scientific research – what it looks like behind the scenes, the unexpected twists and turns it often takes, and how mistakes and failures are a critical part of that process. Our aim is to bring diverse audiences together so that researchers and non-researchers alike can engage in science communication and open conversations around the research process.
We are three anthropology graduate students who met at McMaster. Akacia and Brianne are currently PhD candidates at McMaster, and Taylor is currently pursuing her PhD at Cambridge. This project originated from discussions around perceptions of science and publishing standards while at a conference, and has grown from there into the Null Hypothesis website and blog.
