Qualitative Suite
Sometimes the space a researcher most needs is one that has multiple camera feeds and excellent microphone coverage, so that neither you nor participants need to worry about recording equipment. Spark’s Qualitative Suite works wonderfully for interviews and focus groups but is also excellent for arts- and activity-based designs. The Qualitative Suite is available to be rented to researchers and marketing companies inside and outside McMaster.
The Spaces:
Two small rooms that can each accommodate 1-4 participants and the researcher.
A large room able to accommodate 12 sitting at a table or 30 standing/moving/on the floor, with an attached viewing room and the ability to live stream from the cameras.
The Technology:
Spark’s Qualitative Suite has the latest in video and audio capture technology, with the set-up done by the same team that mics up the Big Brother Canada house. Researchers receive video and audio files securely within 24 hours of their use of the space. Details on the technology are provided to users to include in Research Ethics Board reviews.
Optional services:
- Experienced facilitators and interviewers: Spark has a team of facilitators and interviewers on staff or on contract that can be hired to facilitate your session. We have expertise in a wide variety of focus group methods, art-based approaches, and interview types. When you reach out, we will discuss your needs and try to match you with an appropriate facilitator or interviewer.
- Transcription: Spark can arrange for transcription of your audio and video for an additional fee.
- Data analysis: reports back to participants
